Can we develop a replacement for snail mail USPS mail? We have gas, diesel and soon electric trucks, boats and planes to move around wood pulp with images. With human resources getting a pension after 30 years of delivering 95% paper spam to homes and business. We are dragging a tired corporate entity 30 or more years in to the future because people now could not consider a solid replacement

Can we make a pay-to-deliver, one person per Email equivalent, mail equivalent , ephemeral coupons or email , valid till email , Government acknowledge system . Utility recognize system . No SIm swap or Identity replication resilient system.

The transmission delivery can be as low as 5 cents . However marketers can be denied delivery and or pay higher to transmit spam material. Rate increments by double each time they are denied delivery again. They pay delivery. Everybody first pays into a Escrow account before transmission is allowed. Money is deducted per transmission. Bills, goverment notices, authentication would all need verification system . Money is released if material is read. Spammer would deplete account and prevented from delivering. block chained traceability discrete valid person but also detection of bogus actor .

I know it is not as fancy as developing WIFI standard, block chain, Spinrite error detection, or ethernet protocols. However very critical. Thoughts additional criticism and or ideas ?

I am liking this idea and think it could be a solution to supporting the USPS into the future.

It would have to be appealing to both vendors that would pay for service as well as to residential users, but I think that could be done.
Vendors - vendors could market to a certain address range, deliver their mail to that address range and pay less than they would for regular 'paper mail' deliveries and get to their targeted market.
Users - The post office could pay its users for confirming an ongoing email account per an address for each confirmed mail delivery to the address, while still keeping the majority of the proceeds from delivery of the mail. If users change their address, they would get reassigned to the new address. Government offices across the county could save in postage and be held more accountable.

This could be a revolution that would save $millions in wasted paper supplies and fuel expenses. However, oftentimes, the best ideas are left as ideas.

I like the thought, and would vote for it.

Not likely. The problem is that in the last decade most voting systems in the US have come to heavily rely on mail-in ballots. Several states are mail-in ballots only, and the defenders of it are fierce. Any internet-based voting system has to be proven to be completely reliable and secure, and while lots of people have thought about this issue nobody has come up with a system that is bulletproof.

Thus because of two elections (primary and general) every two years, I don't think we'll be getting rid of the snail-mail USPS any time soon.
