BootAble – FreeDOS boot testing freeware
To obtain direct, low-level access to a system's mass storage drives, SpinRite runs under a GRC-customized version of FreeDOS which has been modified to add compatibility with all file systems. In order to run SpinRite it must first be possible to boot FreeDOS.
GRC's “BootAble” freeware allows anyone to easily create BIOS-bootable media in order to workout and confirm the details of getting a machine to boot FreeDOS through a BIOS. Once the means of doing that has been determined, the media created by SpinRite can be booted and run in the same way.
The participants here, who have taken the time to share their knowledge and experience, their successes and some frustrations with booting their computers into FreeDOS, have created a valuable knowledgebase which will benefit everyone who follows.

Indeed here in Switzerland, the legal process is clear; you need to come with concrete evidence that a criminal offence is being committed that would be prosecutable in a Swiss court.

Before I moved from Proton mail's free version to a paid one I did read a lot of the 'fine print', and I do remember something to the effect that they are bound to follow Swiss law requests. It went on to mention that Swiss privacy laws were more protective of privacy than most. I am paraphrasing here since it was some time since I read that. I do not recall anything saying that privacy was guaranteed.
I am not moving from Proton mail. One big reason I moved some of my email there was to keep it from the prying eyes of Gmail and potential hacking, not because there is anything illegal in my email.
