In the episode 797 Steve said that the Solarwinds is an appliance. This is not correct. The Solarwinds Orion is not an appliance, that is a product that runs on Windows under IIS. It has what they now call Orion Core ( for multiple products to use the same underlying technology) . On the top of that you have other products that are layered and all can be purchased separately , such as NPM ( Network Performance Monitor) , NCM ( Network Configuration Management ) and other's .They typically can utilize the common MS SQL database, to share the node information and properties.
