But after a few power cycles and some strategic patience, it finally gave up a basic ID.

Block by block, RapidSpar worked like a mountain sherpa—painstakingly dragging sectors to safety while I monitored head performance. I targeted the MFT and metadata first—get the directory structure, get the win.
Once I’d imaged as much of the drive as I could (around 87% success, which honestly felt like a miracle), I mounted the partial image in R-Studio. The file system was NTFS—damaged, but not hopeless.
R-Studio rolled up its sleeves and got to work. Reconstructed the directory tree, indexed the files, and even handled a few bad clusters like a champ. File preview? Good. File recovery? Excellent. Most of the photos, videos, and documents came back intact.
A few corrupted fragments here and there, mostly from unallocated space—but nothing the client would cry over.
