My relatively new Lenovo laptop has neither a disk nor an optical drive. With some difficulty, I was able to adjust the BIOS to boot the PC into a USB device. However, neither the SpinRite nor the BootAble thumb drives will work. Windows 11 Update, Advance Startup settings tell me: “System doesn’t have any USB boot option. Please select other boot option in Boot Manager Menu.” “Would you like to continue?” The only option is “OK” and that causes the Windows Boot Manager to start Windows since other options are not available.
I now have two thumb drives that don’t work. I am a step-by-step type of person. After creating the BootAble thumb drive, are the BootAble.exe and the Edit.com files supposed to be copied over to the SpinRite thumb drive? Anti-virus software did not appear to be an issue. And disabling Secure Boot only sent me scrambling for my Bit Locker recovery key and to turn Secure Boot back on. What are my options at this point? Thanks.
