One of my mantras as of late has been "We're all running out of time. What are you going to do with yours?" and with all aspects of my life that seems to have profound meaning for me. It also means that I look very much forward to helping Steve beta test SpinRite 7 when development begins. Despite being intimately aware of the passing of time I am also very much nostalgic and longing for the days of old; where a lot of us cut our teeth in personal computer technology. I miss rows of boxes software. I miss carefully curated printed documentation. I miss the smell of "fresh" media (more so CD's, than floppies).
I feel that SpinRite 7 is going to the best thing for mass storage since SpinRite's inception 30 years ago and my wish is that for those of us who are willing to pay for it is perhaps a book and some media although I suspect these days it would be a USB stick.
The catalyst behind this thought was this old but equally useful to me version of SpinRite 2.0 which had a beautiful binder, documentation, and disks. (See pictures.)
